On the 8th day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Matching spice jars — the one drawer that will always spark joy. The cohesiveness, the simplicity, the colors of the different spices — I will always love a good spice drawer transformation.
There are many ways to organize a spice jar (turntables, wall shelves, 3-tier shelves), but the most functional space for spices is in a drawer.
With a turntable, you have to turn the turntable to see them all. With a wall shelf, you have to walk to the inside of your pantry to access them. With a 3-tier shelf, you often can’t see the label on the jars on the higher tiers.
In a drawer, you can see all of your spices at once. It is effortless, and that is what we’re going for — to make your home look more elevated and feel more effortless.
No more buying duplicate spices because you can’t see your full collection. No more spices going to waste.
A drawer is the most seamless spice experience.
To make your spice drawer dreams come true, you need three things —
- Spice Drawer Insert
- Spice Jars
- Spice Labels
Spice Drawer Insert
When it comes to spice drawer inserts, you have options — fixed, adjustable or custom. While custom is more time-intensive (it does require custom cuts with a table saw), it will always have our vote. If you’re going to embark on this spice jar adventure, we are firm believers in doing it once and doing it right. Click the images below for direct product links.
Spice Jars
Spice jars come in different shapes and sizes (namely cylinder vs square), but when it comes to a spice drawer, we want SQUARE spice jars. Why? Cylinder jars roll around when you open and close your drawer, shifting the labels left and right. The square jars stay upright, with their label in clear sight at all times. Opt for square — always.
The jars pictured in this post are from Amazon. They are your most affordable option, coming in packs of 24 or 48. My absolute favorite are the Neat Method spice jars which come in matte black and matte brass. They. Are. Beautiful.
PRO TIP | When it comes to quantity, always order a few more than your current collection. This allows space for future new additions while keeping your spice drawer / masterpiece just that — a masterpiece.
Labels
The final step — labels! I custom make all labels for my clients, but I’m linking similar options below.
Enough with the script font, we want labels with all capital letters — minimal and easy to read.
There are few things in life more satisfying than a matching spice jar collection.

Happy Holidays and Happy Organizing!
